Hi there, I'm noffle. In 2016 I quit writing closed source software: everything I create now is open source and permissively licensed. I have no intention of ever working any other way again.

I want to show the world that decentralized systems built as a commons can do all of the great things that popular centralized products of today can do, but even better! All without strings of dependency, surveillance, exploitation, and colonialism attached. Here are the projects I'm leading the development of:

• friendpm: friends sharing their local npm caches over the local intranet; no internet required!
• peer-npm: publish and install node packages from the peer-to-peer swarm
• hyperpad-desktop: peer-to-peer collaborative text editor on your desktop with Electron

I'm also a regular contributor to these fantastic open source projects:

• Mapeo Desktop: An offline p2p app for indigenous territory mapping in remote environments.
• scuttlebutt: a decentralised secure gossip platform.
• Dat: Share & live sync files anywhere!

Finally, I've written some articles about decentralization and writing good programs:
